A Slice of Summer Bridal Shower

It all started with Pear Tree’s Sweet Slices Fun Bridal Shower Invitations, which became the inspiration for these refreshingly simple bridal shower ideas by celebrations.com. The simple theme of bright, sunny lemons provided plenty of intense color and flavor for the decorations and menu ideas.

A wire basket filled with lemons and a copy of the invitation greeted guests at the entry to the party. Topiary centerpieces for each table were made out of purchased plants, decorative yellow pots, a handful of lemons and some yellow tulle.

At each table setting, a fresh lemon tied with a bow held a place card for each guest, made from address labels that were ordered blank along with the invitations. Yellow napkins, ribbons, and imitation lemon slices provided the bold citrus color on the table, with sprigs of green ivy for accents.

Even the menu was lemony sweet, with a quartet of lemon-infused desserts lined up on a rectangular plate, including lemon sorbet, a raspberry lemon trifle, petit fours and lemon cookies. Shower favors included a small loaf of lemon bread and little white boxes filled with lemon drops, topped with a personalized wedding favor sticker to match the invite. It was a sweet way to end this beautiful afternoon shower.

As the copywriter for Pear Tree, Cathy sympathizes with those who are intimidated by the blank space inside a 3 x 5" thank you card. Married to an active husband, and Mom to three teenage boys, she finds herself out-numbered and out-voted on pretty much everything, never gets the remote, and is used to receiving blank stares when talking about girl stuff. This blog is both her outlet and her payback.
