I was hired at Pear Tree Greetings as the Marketing Intern a little over a year ago and have kept myself super busy with being a full-time student, full-time employee, officer of the Marketing Club, and starting my own cupcake business. And now to top it off, a couple weeks ago, I graduated from Minnesota State University – Mankato (MSU) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing and International Business, and a minor in German.
While attending college, I had the chance to travel abroad where I studied in Germany for six months. I had never been to Europe, I had never left the Midwest, and I had never even been on an airplane! But, I took the leap and got on that plane and flew across the world! I met the most amazing people, learned a lot about the German culture, and traveled to 10 different countries. I now have so many other places I want to go, and friends all over the world that I can visit.
I was also in the Marketing Club at MSU for two years and was elected Director of Finance my senior year. I learned a lot about marketing; we toured fun companies in the Twin Cities area, and even traveled to Chicago and St. Louis for business tours and, of course, sightseeing.
My college career has come to an end (finally, ha!) and it is all a little bittersweet. I had a lot of fun, made a lot of friends and had some really great opportunities come my way that I will forever be thankful for. It has consumed my life for years and I know I will miss things about it. I am going to miss the campus. I am going to miss hearing stories from the night before. I am going to miss being on Facebook during class. I am going to miss the days when you just want to wear sweatpants. I am going to miss the friends I have made through the years. I am going to miss Marketing Club. I am going to miss the laughs, the tears, the frustrations, the procrastinations and all of the good times! But, now a new point of my life begins, and I am excited about it. After being an intern at Pear Tree for a year, I have accepted a full-time position there as a Marketing Coordinator. I was thrilled when Pear Tree asked me because I love the products they offer, I love the people I work with, and I love what I do. Thank you, Pear Tree! I look forward to the years ahead.
Shelly recently graduated from college and even more recently accepted a full-time position as a Marketing Coordinator at Pear Tree. But she’s not exactly new to the team, having spent the prior year here as our marketing intern and Jill-of-all-trades. Shelly loves fashion, has tons of style, and as a result, was naturally drawn to Pear Tree’s unique designs. She is also an amazing baker, and it wouldn’t be a Pear Tree meeting without Shelly’s cupcakes!
