We know just how hard it can be during the holiday rush to get those Christmas cards in the mail. With all the scrambling to collect photos, order cards on time and get them in the mail, sometimes it just doesn’t happen. That’s why we have New Year’s cards, right?
Seriously, a warm and happy greeting, maybe with a photo or two, is welcome any time. Now that you’ve got most of the presents wrapped and decorations up, you can check out our New Year’s card ideas and create one without feeling rushed — a card that will make your friends and family smile.

Looking for save the date ideas that won’t break the budget? Check out our collection of save the date postcards! Not only are these awesome designs affordable to make and fun to get in the mail, but they’ll also save you money on postage (since stamps for postcards cost less). One more plus? They’re a little more environmentally friendly since you’re not using envelopes.
Looking for kids Christmas party ideas that don’t involve Santa or gifts? Here are three party ideas that will keep little hands busy.
Cookie baking or decorating party
Christmas baking is a lot more fun when you have a lot of hands helping. Why not invite your kids’ friends over for a party to help? They can help decorate gingerbread houses or cut-out cookies that you bake ahead of time, such as gingerbread or sugar cookie cut-outs. Or you can have a cookie baking party and let the kids help you make any kind of cookies you like!
Our Gleeful Gingerbread Kids Christmas Party Invitations or our Gingerbread Lane Kids Christmas Party Invitations are the perfect choice for this Christmas party idea!
Before the party begins, have all of your ingredients whether for baking or decorating ready to go, and set up several stations with supplies so the kids each have a place to work. Things may get messy when the kids dig in to help, but that’s half the fun. And, of course, each guest gets to take home a sampling of cookies.
There’s not much time left before Christmas to do a lot of things, so here’s our whirlwind holiday checklist for these last few weeks.
Time to get the tree, decorate it, and dust off all the Christmas decorations. Turn on the Christmas music and this job is a lot more fun. Get this free holiday garland printable!
Send out those Christmas Cards
Kids can help with stamps and address labels. Make it a family project. See note about Christmas music above.
Display your cards
One inexpensive decorating idea is to display the Christmas cards you receive. They make a colorful holiday display whether you put them on your fridge, mantel, or create a unique place to show them off. Check out our Pinterest board for some fun ideas!
Did you know Pear Tree has some wonderful personalized gift ideas for kids? Check out our Holiday Gift Guide for lots of great ideas, but don’t miss the personalized children’s books, where your child’s name gets printed right in the story. (Shop early for these gifts because some versions, like the board books, take up to 21 days processing time!) Continue reading
Are you ready? Thanksgiving is nearly upon us and I haven’t bought a single Christmas gift yet. But I am confidant I can pull off a Thanksgiving dinner for 20, decorate the house and send out Christmas cards all in the next three weeks. Somehow it will get done. It has to, right?
Here’s my holiday checklist for mid-November.
Order Christmas cards. If you want them addressed and ready to mail in early December, make sure to order them soon. While it’s not a race (though SOME people at Pear Tree think it is…I won’t name names :)) I set Thanksgiving weekend as my deadline for ordering, especially since it falls so late this year.
Still haven’t taken that perfect photo? Thanksgiving may be your last chance to get all the family members together.
