5 Birthday Party Ideas for Boys

They grow up so fast, don’t they? Another year has passed, and it’s time once again to plan your little boy’s birthday party. But, no worries, our 5 most popular birthday party ideas for boys are packed with ways to make it special. Take your cue from your little guy and pick a party theme that he’s interested in, such as cars, animals or superheroes. You can go crazy with decorations or scale it back, depending on budget and time, but these party ideas will give you plenty of places to start.

1. Shark attack! Our Shark Mask Kids Birthday Invitation inspired the entire theme for this birthday party. From the food ideas to the decorations to the colors, it was a hit. Mom, Christy, ordered matching Shark Table Decor, hung up a fishing net and stuck the decor to the netting. She served shark-shaped sandwiches and ocean-themed cake pops. Each child received a shark invitation and there were extras at the party they could use as masks. Finally, Christy made hammerhead-shaped goodie bags for the kids to bring home. *No kids were attacked by a shark during this party.*

2. Li’l farmer. This Li’l Farmer is too cute! He loves animals, tractors and singing Old McDonald so it was a no-brainer to choose this theme for his 2nd birthday. Mom, Michelle, used our Li’l Farmer Tied with Twine Kids Birthday Invitations that features three cards tied together with twine. One of the cards in the invitation encouraged guests to share a favorite memory of the birthday boy and bring it to the party – a great keepsake! For food, Michelle made pink pig cupcakes, freshly squeezed lemonade, homemade apple-crisp and farm fresh veggie dip. As a favor, each guest went home with a red bandanna from Farmer Alex.

5 Birthday Party Ideas for Girls

Birthday party ideas for girls
Your little girl is turning one year older, and while you may be sad as you reflect on the years that have gone by, you should also be very proud. Look how much she has learned from you! It’s time to celebrate the person she’s become, and how much joy she has brought you and the people around her. To help inspire you, we are sharing our 5 most popular birthday party ideas for girls. Feel free to spoil her, because she’s only young once!

1.  Movie Star. For this girl party idea, we used our Glowing Affair Photo Trifold Party Invitations and changed the colors to inspire the rest of the theme. We turned Gwyneth’s (the birthday girl’s) house into a red carpet event. We used the garage entrance to make a walkway for her friends to greet her as they arrived, and snapped lots of photos like the paparazzi would. At the premier event (a movie showing in the backyard), we had a snack bar full of family favorites, including Skittles, licorice, Dots and of course, various flavors of popcorn. For dessert, we made cupcakes with the movie theme in mind, decorating them with marshmallows to look like popcorn, clapboards and the big number 5 to celebrate this exciting year for Gwyneth!

2. Welcome to my Pizzeria! At this party, the invite set the tone. We used our Pizza Party Photo Spinner Kids Birthday Invitations that feature 4 photos of the birthday girl with the classic pizzeria colors of red, white and black. We also incorporated green into our color scheme. We set the table and sprinkled our matching pizza party table decor across it. Each child received a chef apron and they were ready to start making their own pizza! And what’s a pizzeria without an ice cream bar?!

We couldn’t believe it when we saw our Magic Unicorn Mask Birthday Invitations tagged on Instagram as part of this amazing unicorn party. We contacted the creative mom, Adrea, to see more of her fabulous girls’ birthday party ideas and ask how the party turned out. She told us all about it.

“We first found your gorgeous invitations at Pear Tree Greetings and became very excited about our theme!  My mother ordered Hadley, the adorable unicorn set from The Land of Nod, that quickly became our color inspiration for her birthday party. We made unicorn-shaped sugar cookies and I hand-cut tissue paper tassels to create a tassel balloon and tassel honeycomb tissue balls (honeycomb balls from Shop Sweet Lulu).

“I gathered so many fabulous ideas from The Alison Show. Alison threw a unicorn fourth birthday party for her daughter, and every detail was perfect. I shamelessly incorporated so many of her ideas for Hadley’s party. :)

“Tables that were originally planned for outside dining were moved inside our garage due to a downpour. My sister purchased craft paper to use as tablecloths and wrote each child’s name in gold paint. We then set the table with Shop Sweet Lulu silver star plates and unicorn napkins. Each child received a special glass of Magical Unicorn Dust (glitter), which was a big hit! Unicorn horns were made with cotton candy holders and dipped in glitter.

1st birthday party ideas
Happy 1st birthday to Aidan! Mom, Mary Beth, shared these photos of her son’s 1st birthday with us on Instagram, and we just had to hear her story and see her 1st birthday party ideas. On her blog, Living the Simple Life, she talks about Aidan’s birthday party and shares how special this birthday is to her and her family: “This party was bittersweet in more ways than one for me.  He is my last baby, so it’s the last first birthday party that I’ll host, but more importantly I never got to throw my first born son a party to celebrate this milestone.  After my first born passed away at 2 and a half months old, life gets put into a different perspective.  Each milestone with all of my children has been HUGE.  It was no different for my Little Man.  To be blessed to have a son again, to know that this is my last baby, to be able to see him reach each milestone, to have each month pass and still have him here in my arms…it has been nothing short of AMAZING!” We are so honored she chose to use Pear Tree for this special day.

We love seeing the way our kids birthday invitations can inspire a whole birthday party theme. Mary Beth used our Photo Booth Session First Birthday Invitations and created a photo-booth-themed party that focused on Aidan turning one. “One of my fave things about the invitation was being able to use pics of him from his whole first year and not have to be forced to only highlight one. We were celebrating all 12 months, 365 days, and 8760 hours of our Little Man, Aidan!”

Mary Beth continued the photo booth theme by creating two backdrops. She used CaravanShoppe to get the digital versions of the artwork and printed it off at her local Staples. The large print of these cameras are perfect for this photo booth theme. She also personalized matching Photo Booth Session kids party decorations and strung them across the backdrop with twine and mini clothespins. She added white balloons with cupcakes, wooden letters and the birthday invitation to the mantel. It makes it such a nice focal point in the living room.

Unicorn Birthday Party Ideas for Girls

Birthday Party Ideas for Girls
Birthday party ideas for girls seem to get more difficult to come up with each year. My daughter and I talked through a few different ideas and finally landed on a unicorn themed party. She loves anything pink and glittery, so we thought this would be the perfect theme to incorporate many shades of pink and several different accent colors.

Magic Unicorn Kids Birthday Invitations
For the invitations, I decided to use Pear Tree Greetings’ Magic Unicorn Mask Kids Birthday Invitations because they were super unique and fun for the kids to open.  I decided to keep the colors of pink and purple to go with the color theme of the party.

Kids Birthday Party Ideas: Start Your Engines!

This year nothing was more fitting than a race car birthday party theme for our three year old son, Alex Archer! I was able to create the perfect invite and decorations for his party at Pear Tree, making for a memorable party, once again.

Here are all the printed pieces I used, and I will show you below, in more detail, how I used them at the party to create these fun kids birthday party ideas you can do, too!
Kids birthday party ideas

I love how the Race Is On Kids’ Birthday Invitations turned out. The checkered flags and race car details in the design looked perfect with the photo of Alex, and I thought it was really fun to put his stats and the year’s recap on the back of the invite.

I ordered two sets of the Race Is On Table Décor and it was the perfect amount for all the decorating ideas I had in mind. I used checkerboard-patterned duct tape to hang a set of table décor on the door to greet our guests. I also punched holes in the table décor and strung them up for another decoration!

We found this mom, JoAnna, on Instagram when she tagged us in her post sharing that she was excited for her son’s upcoming 2nd birthday party. We loved the Li’l Farmer Twine Package Kids Birthday Invitation she had picked out and wanted to hear her story and see how the party turned out. I think you will agree with us when you see her fun and crafty kids birthday party ideas! We love it.

“As a crafty mommy and love for all things stationery + paper, this was the best invitation set I could ever imagine,” JoAnna shared.

“This was a last minute party planning for me and I searched and searched online and no one had exactly what I was looking for until I saw this farmer set. I jumped right on it for editing and got next business day shipping.” JoAnna personalized each of the three pieces in this invitation set and tied it with the twine to send as a nice package to the guests. (Twine is included with this unique three-piece invitation.)

JoAnna carried out the farm theme by also ordering our matching Li’l Farmer Table Decor Kids Birthday Party Decorations to use as food labels.

My Little Ladybug Kids Birthday Party Ideas

I started by putting together the color palette for the party (with lots of pink, of course). I used twisted streamers to add a touch of color to the backdrop of the table, and used pieces from the Little Ladybug Table Décor Kids Party Decorations to add color to the backdrop.
