His + Hers = Ours: Wedding Photo Ideas

I absolutely LOVE how our wedding photos turned out from our wedding day back in September! We went to a very nice, open park in a nearby town. The colors were vibrant and it even had a wooden bridge as another option for a photo background. I wanted to share with you my top 5 wedding photo ideas to inspire you for your wedding day.

1. Include ALL family members.

If you have been following along in the His + Hers = Ours series you know that Scott and I are very proud owners of a pup named Lola. She is an adorable Springer Spaniel and she has been a part of our family for two years now so she was a must for a photo on this exciting day. It’s my absolute favorite.

2. Capture funny moments.

This photo pretty much sums up our relationship – laughing, ALWAYS. She was my matron of honor and I am so happy we have this memory. It’s perfect.

His + Hers = Ours: 3 Wedding Ideas

Hello again. After our wedding day in September, I wanted to share with you 3 of our favorite wedding ideas we did to make our day truly memorable for us as well as our guests.

1. Photo Time! Get your guests to share the excitement by having your photographer take photos of the bride and groom with each table. Our DJ made it into a fun game that we had to get photos with all the tables within one song. It was so great to see photos from ALL the guests that attended. Tip: we printed off the photos and we included it with our thank you notes. So the guests had a copy with the bride & groom!

Kelsey & Andy: Engagement Photo Ideas

Engagement Photo Ideas
Pretty quickly after we got engaged I started thinking about engagement photo ideas for two reasons: first because I wanted to take advantage of how beautiful fall is in Minnesota and secondly because I wanted to be able to include them in our save the date cards and get them out early. A lot of our guests will be coming from out of state and it will give them more time to make travel arrangements.

A few weeks before the session I brainstormed potential shoot locations with both my fiancé and photographer Hollywould Designs. We settled on three separate places: a very lovely local park that sits on the banks of the Minnesota River, a large wooden bridge on one of our favorite bike trails, and a very cool-looking, worn-down industrial warehouse that’s right down the street from our home. Each of these spots shows off the natural beauty of the area and was special to us as a couple.Kelsey & Andy: Engagement Photo Ideas #peartreegreetings #weddingideas Continue reading

Ashley & Chad: A Handmade Wedding at a Historic Victorian House in Fremont, California

Pear Tree Greetings’ Happily Ever Headlines Poster Style Wedding Invitations were featured on Swooned with this beautiful vintage wedding. Read on as the couple, Ashley and Chad, share their story and wedding ideas from their big day!

Ashley Mitchell, a marketing communications professional, and Chad Rittgers, a business development consultant, met in a way that can only be described as youthfully serendipitous: While vacationing with friends one Memorial Day weekend on Paso Robles’ Lake Nacimiento, Ashley ventured off on an inner tube and happened upon Chad’s party boat. She had never imagined that she would meet the love of her life over Jell-O shots, but that’s exactly what happened. The adventurous, fun-loving pair were engaged several years later during a spontaneous road trip up the Northern California coast.

For the outdoorsy duo, an alfresco venue was a must. When they came across Fremont’s Ardenwood, a historic farm named after the forested area in England that Shakespeare mentions in As You Like It, they knew they had found the perfect spot for their nuptials. One of the property’s defining features is a Victorian mansion surrounded by elaborate gardens, and this inspired the theme of the event—“a playful garden party with a vintage vibe.”

Armed with an inspiration board from The Perfect Palette, Ashley and Chad went to work crafting their dream wedding from scratch. Almost every detail was handmade, from the ceremony arch, which Chad constructed out of tree trimmings, to the cheerful billy buttons, which were grown in Ashley’s father’s garden.

Captured flawlessly by Glass Jar Photography, their day was magical in every sense of the word.

Featuring illusion vine beading, Ashley’s stunning chiffon gown was designed by Tadashi Shoji. Her bridesmaids donned mismatched dresses in shades of pale peach.

Top 3 Maid of Honor Tips: It’s the Forethought that Counts

Top 3 Maid of Honor Tips: It’s the Forethought that Counts
As anybody who has been through it could attest, being a maid of honor is a singularly unique experience. There’s this moment—you know, when the bride-to-be pops the question—when the full reality comes seeping in as you process it and everything it means. When my sister asked me, tears immediately filled my eyes as I realized what she really was asking: be my rock. From that moment on, I made a promise to her and myself to make the process as smooth as possible. No sweat, right? For anyone else who might find herself in the same situation and on the verge of a full-on freak-out (don’t worry!), here are a few wedding tips I put together based on my experience.

Not So Lonely At the Top
My first piece of advice? Take advantage of extra available help. Don’t be shy. At the very least, it may help you relax and be confident. There is nothing that says you have to go this alone. After I accepted my duties as maid of honor and realized just how big of a deal it really was, I looked for help. One of my co-workers was recently married, so I turned to her for advice on what she expected from her right-hand woman, issues or concerns that arose during the entire process, and for her favorite gift resources. Also, in this wonderfully technological society we live in, you can utilize the internet for just about everything. There are numerous wedding help sites, apps, and communities online that can answer any question you may have in minutes. Don’t be afraid to utilize any sort of support community you may have — the more the merrier.

Kelsey & Andy: Will you be my Bridesmaid?

After my fiancé and I got engaged I couldn’t wait to ask my best girlfriends to share in my excitement and be a part of our special day. All eight of the girls in my wedding have been incredible friends to me, and we’ve remained close despite the fact that I live several states away from all of them.

Because I couldn’t ask my friends to be my bridesmaids in person, I wanted to send them something very personal instead. I decided to create care packages for the girls and incorporate some little bridesmaid gifts and fun wedding details to get them excited.

Will you be my Bridesmaid?
My fiancé and I really love to travel together and explore new places, and the beginning of our relationship was long-distance so we decided a vintage, travel-themed wedding would be perfect for us. We already use vintage suitcases as decorations in our living room that will work well as wedding décor, so I thought sending mini suitcases with my invitation and a few fun bridesmaid gifts inside would be perfect. I found a mini suitcase set in pink and aqua, which happened to be two of our wedding colors, and were small enough to be easily mailed.
