POW! Superhero Birthday Party Ideas

Superhero Photo Birthday Invitations -- Calling All Superheroes!
A note from Christy:

I am pretty lucky to have some really great friends, and even luckier that many of them like to go wild planning their kids’ birthday parties. Below is a post from my friend from college, Sarah, who threw her son a pretty awesome Superhero Birthday Party. Good timing, as my boys are set on a Batman/Superhero party next, her party gives me lots of ideas! Enjoy Sarah’s post!

Conley’s Superhero Birthday Party
I will confess that Conley’s 2nd birthday party was very small…in fact, it might be a stretch to call it a party since it was just Conley, mom, and dad. Since I went small last year, I knew that I wanted to do something fun and special for his 3rd birthday. His current obsession right now is Spiderman, so we decided to celebrate with a Superhero Themed 3rd Birthday Party!

Since I already knew that Pear Tree had a Superhero themed invite, Calling All Superheroes! – Kids Birthday Invitations, that would be perfect, I didn’t need to look far for invites. Naturally, Conley had dressed up as Spiderman for Halloween, so a picture of him in his costume paired with this invite was the perfect inspiration to get me started on superhero birthday party ideas. Pear Tree had matching Calling All Superheroes! – Address Labels, so the invite process was set!

Christmas Card Shopping Myth #5: Address Labels Are For Wimps

Address labels for wimps? We beg to disagree. Address labels are the best things to happen to addressing Christmas cards since the invention of the printing press (the one that prints sticky back address labels, anyway). Here at Pear Tree we wouldn’t order cards without them and there are several good reasons why.
Addressing Christmas Cards

These handy little labels not only save time addressing Christmas cards, they give your envelopes a ton of personality to help your greetings stand out in the mail. While we’re at it, we might as well dispel the myth that return address labels have to go on the front upper left corner of your envelope. They look even better on the back, which is where your friends and family will get a surprise when they flip to open your card.

90th birthday party ideas

Birthday party ideasMy Grandma Rose is so special to my family and me. Turning 90 years old is quite the milestone, and we wanted to make her birthday party very special and memorable—not only for her, but for the guests!

All of our birthday party ideas started with the invite. I was unsure which card I wanted to use and was tossing around several ideas, including Postal Delivery Invitation Postcard, or repurposing our Lasting Introduction birth announcement or Circles of Celebration trifold party invitations, the two-sided tri-fold was perfect for a 90th birthday party invitation! I was able to share a timeline, showcasing the highlights of Grandma’s 90 years of happiness! To make these invites stick out in the mailbox, I used Tying the Knot Address Labels in hot pink to seal it shut.

I received a lot of compliments about the invite. One of Grandma’s friends was so excited that she said she had been showing everybody and was going to take it to coffee and show all of her friends! She said it was the most unique invite she had ever received.

Once the invite was ordered, I got to work on planning the party and making the decorations. I wanted the guests to leave with a remembrance of Grandma Rose, so I made little photo magnets using the same photos I used on the invite. Then I packaged them using clear bags and stapling Cupcake Love Kids Stationery and Looking Linear Confetti to the bags. It was a fun token for the guests to take home and put on their fridge in honor of Grandma Rose.

To hand-address or print address labels? That is the question.

Hand addressing envelopeDo you hand-write the addresses on your Christmas cards, or print them on mailing labels? We thought this was a rather innocuous question, until we brought it up here at Pear Tree and a heated argument ensued.

To our surprise, some team members felt very strongly that using printed address labels instead of addressing Christmas cards by hand was a no-no. “Too commercial. Too impersonal,” they said.

“But wait,” said our product designer, who is very particular about aesthetics. “I don’t like how my handwriting looks. It’s not neat enough. I always do printed labels, and there’s nothing wrong with that.” Others thought the time savings was worth the trade-off and didn’t think twice about using labels. Hmmmm. It seems we have a difference of opinion here.

Maybe you can help settle the argument. Is the convenience of printed labels worth the trade-off in personal attention? Do you think one way or another, for better or worse, about a person who sends a labeled card vs. a handwritten one? We’d love to hear from you!

Ahh … Address Labels

address labelsWhy, oh why, would anyone get excited about address labels? Yes, you have to put a return address on your mail and, yes, address labels can save you lots of time if you are sending lots and lots of mail…like during Christmas card season. But if all you can think about is the functionality, you are missing all the fun.

First impressions count. And when your friends and relatives get your holiday card in the mail, how will they know it’s not a bill, or junk mail, or a card from the realtor down the street? Because it has that festive, colorful, personalized address label on it, of course! It will make them smile and get excited to see the matching card inside, we guarantee it.

Another reason we’re giddy about address labels is how much fun they are to stick on things. Even a kid can do it. One of our favorite address label ideas is to get the kids involved in the Christmas card assembly process. Address labels and stamps are their department. You are the supervisor. Pour yourself a glass of wine and watch. It will be fun. We guarantee it.

Check and see if your Christmas cards have matching address labels available. And for more ways to make addressing your Christmas cards easier and more fun, check out our blog.
