Fa la la la la! It’s our favorite time of the year! One filled with hot cocoa, crisp weather, gift giving and yummy treats. And of course, lots of holiday party ideas!
There have been a lot of birthday parties lately at Pear Tree! My niece, Taytum, just turned three. My sister-in-law told me that she wanted to have a party and asked me for birthday party ideas, starting with kids birthday invitations from Pear Tree. She wanted an invite that would show a lot of photos, since she loves to take pictures of her daughter. We decided on the Colliding Collage birthday invitations—perfect!
Now, you just cannot have a party without going all out like everybody is doing nowadays. We decided that an ice cream party would be a fun and started looking for ice cream party ideas. I volunteered to do the cakes. (I love to bake.) She wanted a butterfly cake, and I wanted to do some fun cakes for the table as well.
Hello again, I hope you had a lovely couple of months. His+Hers=Ours is back to talk about Scott’s and my new, exciting wedding ideas!
Scott and I have been busy, busy this summer. We’ve gone to five weddings and we still have three to go! Now that we’re engaged, we go to each wedding looking at all the details to see what inspires us and what we could do at our wedding. It’s been fun picking up wedding ideas from all of them and thinking of ways to put our own twist on them. Here are some of our favorite ideas:
• First Dance. At one of the wedding receptions, after the DJ announced the entire wedding party – ushers, bridesmaids, groomsmen and the newly Mr. & Mrs. – the bride and groom went straight into their first dance with their wedding party surrounding the dance floor. We had never seen this before and it was absolutely wonderful. Everyone was so engaged with the dance, taking pictures, tearing up and watching the love between them. At other weddings we haven’t noticed the first dance as much, because it’s usually after guests have eaten and everyone is finishing their dinner or dessert, getting a drink or visiting the restroom – it isn’t exactly the most romantic time of the evening. I feel the first dance is a special moment between the newlyweds, and we want our closest friends and family to see it. I know they will, if we use this idea. Continue reading
There are many kinds of gifts, some extravagant, some simple, some thoughtful, some obligatory. This time of year we bring gifts wherever we go, and the expense can really add up—especially when the gift wrap and a card cost almost as much as the gift itself!
One of the moms here at Pear Tree Greetings used one of our Christmas gift wrapping ideas as a special surprise for her 3-year old daughter. She ordered a set of Christmas gift tags for each of her children, with their photos on them, so that on Christmas morning when her daughter was looking through the gifts under the tree she could easily find the ones meant for her.
It’s almost May! (Didn’t April just begin??) I’m not complaining, mind you. I am more than ready to end the showers and welcome the May flowers. May also brings May Day, which was one of my favorite days when I was younger. When I think of May Day ideas, I think about the basket I used to make every year.
